If you’re the kind of vinyl collector who enjoys flipping through bins, discovering deep cuts, and talking shop with people who genuinely love music, Noble Records is built for you.

What started as one collector’s passion has grown into something much bigger — without losing the soul that makes record stores special. Noble Records isn’t just a place to buy vinyl. It’s both a physical record store and an archival reissue label, deeply rooted in psychedelic and hard-to-find rock.

From Collector to Full-Time Record Dealer

Noble Records was founded by Dillon Smith in 2010. Like many collectors, he began by selling records online — turning a lifelong obsession into a full-time pursuit. After nearly a decade of building relationships, sourcing rare vinyl, and growing a loyal following, he opened a brick-and-mortar storefront in 2019.

That move gave collectors a physical home base in the Charlotte and Matthews, North Carolina area — a place where the online passion became a real-world record shop experience.

A Record Store That Feels Like a Record Store Should

If you’ve ever walked into a shop that felt intimidating or overly exclusive, that’s not the vibe here.

Noble Records is intentionally welcoming. Whether you’re brand new to vinyl or you’ve been crate-digging for decades, you can walk in, ask questions, and feel comfortable. You don’t need to know obscure catalog numbers or impress anyone with deep cuts to belong.

The inventory spans jazz, soul, funk, punk, and more — but the heartbeat of the store leans heavily into psychedelic rock and collectible vinyl. This is a place where serious finds live.

A big part of what makes the shop special is the “rescue” mission. The team regularly acquires large collections from basements, attics, and forgotten archives. They clean, carefully curate, and properly grade each record before putting it back into circulation. For a collector, that means you’re not just buying stock — you’re discovering pieces of music history that were saved and preserved.

The Noble Records Label: Giving Lost Albums a Second Life

Beyond the storefront, Noble Records also operates as an archival label.

If you’re into private press psych, obscure hard rock, proto-metal, or those albums that only seasoned collectors talk about, this is where it gets interesting. The label focuses on reissuing overlooked records from the 1960s and 70s — albums that didn’t get their due the first time around.

For collectors, this means access. Records that once traded privately among high-end specialists become available again — pressed properly, packaged thoughtfully, and ready for your shelf without needing to hunt down a four-figure original.

Psychedelic Rock and High-End Pressing Standards

The label’s releases are handled with care. Whenever possible, they aim to work from original master tapes to achieve audiophile-quality sound. Packaging is often premium, and some releases include bonus tracks uncovered during research and production.

Artists like Underground Fire, Dryewater, and Fraction have been reissued through the label, bringing rare titles back into rotation for modern collectors.

In addition, the shop frequently offers Noble Records Exclusive color variants. These are sometimes created in partnership with boutique reissue labels like RidingEasy and Guerssen, giving collectors something truly unique — variants you won’t find just anywhere.

A Community That Extends Beyond the Shop

Even if you’ve never set foot in North Carolina, you may already feel connected.

Dillon Smith runs the Noble Records YouTube channel, which has grown to over 120,000 subscribers. Through buying trips, rare record showcases, and recommendations, he brings collectors into the process. You get to see the hunts, the scores, and the stories behind the vinyl.

For you as a collector, that turns new arrivals and reissues into shared moments — not just transactions. Local finds become global conversations.

At its core, Noble Records speaks to the collector who still believes in the magic of record stores — the smell of old jackets, the thrill of the unexpected find, and the sense that great music is still out there waiting to be rediscovered.
