Official reissue of this highly sought-after 1970 Canadian psychedelic hard-rock album.
Formed in Toronto in the late 1960s, It’s All Meat (a name inspired by a dog food commercial) quickly attracted the attention of Jack London, frontman of pre-Steppenwolf group Jack London and the Sparrows. London became the band’s manager and secured them a deal with Columbia Records.
Following the release of their debut 45, the proto-punk, MC5/Stones-inspired “Feel It,” the band began work on their first full-length album, with Jed MacKay and Rick McKim serving as primary songwriters.
Released in 1970, It’s All Meat delivers a powerful blend of garage rock, psychedelia, and early hard rock. Drawing influence from the Rolling Stones, Country Joe & The Fish, The Doors, and the Velvet Underground, standout tracks such as “Roll My Own” and the lysergic “Crying Into The Deep Lake” have since become genre classics.
Unfortunately, the band dissolved shortly after the album’s release.
This reissue includes:
Original artwork in a gatefold sleeve
Remastered sound in the 24-bit domain
Insert featuring liner notes by Plastic Crimewave and rare photos/memorabilia
Download card with non-LP singles and rare tracks
RIYL: Rolling Stones, MC5, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, New York Dolls
“One of the classic Canadian rarities. It’s All Meat delivers ballsy Stones-influenced hard rock with some psychedelic West Coast moves.”
— Patrick Lundborg (Acid Archives)
Securely packed and shipped from Noble Record Store in Matthews, North Carolina.
Took my daughter to Noble Records for the first time today. Friendly staff, cool spot. Store was easy to navigate. My daughter found the Blink album she wanted & we left. Will definitely be back
This is one of the best records places in the Charlotte-Matthew area. They have an amazing selection of sealed & preowned vinyls, cassettes, CDs, and more.
Sometimes I find record stores through research on the cities I visit. Other times fellow collectors might provide advice on where to go. Noble is neither ... I found them through their Instagram presence
